For many years I felt like I was limited in what I could do because of my obesity. It colored every aspect of my life. I felt like I was doomed to be fat forever and that was depressing! I was so excited when I heard about LAP-BAND. I felt like I was handed a precious gift of hope, that finally something was going to help me achieve the goals I had. And it worked!! The burden of the extra weight I was packing around was lifted and I felt wonderful. I didn’t even realize how bad I felt until I felt better! I was able to discontinue my acid reflux and blood pressure medicine. I can now play with my grandchildren in a way I couldn’t before. I love my LAP-BAND and the gift of a new, healthy life.

I Had Lap-Band Done With My Dad

My name is Heather Stevens Baschuk and I had LAP-BAND with my dad in 2007. I have gone from weighing 250 pounds to weighing 160 over this time. It has been a wonderful blessing in my life and I have noticed so many changes. I have found that my self confidence has grown and I am not afraid to put myself out there and try new things. I have also found that I feel soooo much better all of the time and that I am healthy and now able to do the things that I love to do without any problems. I had really bad knee problems which are now gone and that has been so great.

I have recently gotten married and was able to get my dream dress without any problems because of my size. I have always loved who I was and know because of the LAP-BAND I am doing more things and enjoying life so much more. Being able to go through this with my dad has been a real blessing as well. We have been able to go through the changes together and see how it has helped us and be able to support each other through this whole process. We have been able to support each other and push each other to lose the weight and to keep it off and not go back to the ways that we use to live. Looking back at making the decision of having LAP-BAND at such a young age (18), I wouldn’t have changed anything. I only wish that I could have done it sooner if that was an option. Being so young when I did it has allowed me to live the life that I have wanted to since I was a little girl but was unable to. I was able to rebound from the surgery quite quickly and get back to doing the things that I wanted to. As I say to my parents, my outsides now match my insides. I can be that fun energetic girl who loves to do different activities and isn’t held back because of my weight. Thank you LAP-BAND and the doctors who were able to provide me with such a great opportunity!

Having the LAP-BAND Has Made My Life a Thousand Times Better!

My highest weight was 330 pounds. I am 28 and I am a Mother of 3 children ages 7, 4, and 2. So my life is super busy and physically demanding chasing my kids! I am now over 100 pounds lighter and I am able to keep up with my kids physically and play with them and I’m more confident when I take them to the pool. My husband who loves me no matter what shape or size I come in, has noticed that I am much happier and much more confident. Best decision I have ever made! Thank you Dr. Hansen!
